Overview:
At Morgan, we don’t just build projects, we build careers and futures! Join us as a HEAVY CIVIL EQUIPMENT OPERATOR and play a pivotal role in our dynamic world of heavy civil construction!

We are currently accepting applications to support upcoming projects with our clients in the Yukon!


Rotation
: Project dependent, most commonly 14/7

Shift: 12 Hours (Days and Nights)

Travel: Project Dependent - Flights via approved travel hubs (where applicable) OR Drive in / Drive out

Lodging: Accommodations provided


Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Successful completion of Alcohol and Drug Screening
  • Successful completion of comprehensive Fitness-to-Work Assessment. This assessment is job-related, focusing on the physical demands and safety sensitive nature of the work, and is conducted in accordance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and the Alberta Human Rights Act. The assessment will cover:
    • Health History Review: A thorough examination of the candidate’s health background.
    • Pre-Medical Evaluation: Measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
    • Musculoskeletal Examination: A head-to-toe assessment to identify any limitations or concerns related to physical health.
    • Critical Strength and Mobility Test: A series of tasks assessing lifting, carrying, and positional abilities aligned with the job’s physical demands (up to 50 lbs).
  • Worker to provide:
    • Valid Safety Training tickets
      • Intermediate First Aid with CPR & AED
      • Ground Disturbance (HEO)
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • CSA Approved safety boots - minimum 6" high & fully laceable.

All Morgan Field Based Workers and Equipment Operators must:

  • Be physically conditioned to repetitively and safely lift up to 50lbs.
  • Work a rotational schedule, up to 12 hours a day, for both day or night shifts as required and subject to change depending on project needs.
  • Expect to handle noise and vibrations on the job.
  • Be prepared for and willing to perform additional labour duties as / when required.
  • Embrace the elements by working outdoors in all weather conditions. Whether it's rain, shine, or snow, you'll need to thrive in diverse weather environments.

Duties and Respo
nsibilities:
  • Earth moving and grading, stripping overburden, stacking, and stockpiling.
  • Lease building, reclamation, road building, pad building and culvert installation.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections, meticulously examining tires, fluids, lights and brakes to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Adhere to project specifications and guidelines to maintain quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, other operators, and site personnel to ensure smooth operations.
  • Champion our safety culture by adhering to Morgan's Safe Work Procedures and PPE policies by demonstrating a strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of the surrounding environment and potential hazards, such as other equipment or personnel. Perform JSA and FLHA’s as required.
  • Demonstrate exceptional judgement and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrating versatility in collaborating effectively with team members and independently taking ownerships of tasks.
  • Operate 2-way radio.
  • Shovel out equipment tracks.
  • Perform labour duties as / when required.
  • Assist ground personnel as / when required.
  • Other duties as / when assigned.

Experience / Qualification Requirements:

  • ROCK TRUCK - Minimum of 3 years
    of recent experience operating various sizes - 40 Ton ROCK Truck on heavy civil earthworks, construction, road building or mining project sites is required.
  • RIGID HAUL TRUCKS - Minimum of 3 years of recent experience operating various sizes - 773, 777 or 789 HAUL Truck on heavy civil earthworks, construction, road building or mining project sites is required.
  • GRADERS - Minimum of 3 years of recent experience operating various sizes – 14M and/ or 24H Graders in a safe and efficient manner on projects in heavy civil earthworks, construction, road building or mining industry is required.
  • EXCAVATORS - Minimum of 3 years of recent experience operating various sizes - 336 and/or 470 Excavators in a safe and efficient manner on projects in heavy civil earthworks, construction, road building or mining industry is required.
  • DOZERS - Minimum of 3 years of recent experience operating various sizes - D6T, D8, D9 and/ or D10 Dozers in a safe and efficient manner on projects in heavy civil earthworks, construction, road building or mining industry is required.
  • ALL OPERATORS
    • Experience with Hard Rock mining environments is strongly preferred.
    • Experience in Above Ground / Surface Mining is an asset.
    • Experience stripping overburden, stacking, stockpiling and reclamation Experience working on all types of ground conditions, including soft ground.
    • Proven experience working on ice road construction.
    • Experience with technical specifications and grade plans, building roads, oilfield leases and pads (preferred).
    • Ability to finish or trim (preferred).


Employment Type:
Project-Based Construction Role

  • This position is tied to a specific project and its duration, concluding upon completion of the project or the incumbent’s role within it. As Morgan maintains ongoing projects, there is a possibility of placement on another project where a suitable opportunity exists; however, continued or future employment is not guaranteed.
