Heavy Equipment Instructor (Part-Time / Contract – Travel Across Canada)

Canada Heavy Equipment College (CHEC) is a Ministry-approved training provider specializing in on-site Heavy Equipment and AZ/DZ driver training for municipal public works departments and construction companies across Canada.

We’re expanding our instructor team and looking for seasoned heavy equipment operators who are ready to teach, travel, and make an impact.

About the Role

As a CHEC Instructor, you’ll take your years of job-site experience and use it to train the next generation of operators — directly on municipal and construction sites across the country.

You will:

  • Deliver hands-on, on-site training sessions for small groups of operators and public works staff
  • Demonstrate safe and efficient techniques on a variety of machines
  • Travel across Canada for short-term training assignments (2–7 days)
  • Complete evaluations, provide student feedback, and ensure safety standards are met
  • Support the development of new, practical training programs

Equipment You May Teach On

  • Motor Grader / Snow Plow
  • Front End Loader
  • Tractor Loader Backhoe
  • Excavator
  • Bulldozer

What You Bring

  • 15+ years of proven experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Confidence teaching and demonstrating in front of groups
  • Basic computer literacy (PowerPoint, record keeping, etc.)
  • Valid DZ or AZ license (required)
  • Instructor or supervisory experience is an asset
