POSITION SUMMARY

• Effectively records reliable electrocardiograms and analyzes same
• Effectively records signal average ECGs
• Generates a reliable, ambulatory monitor reading and recording and reliably analyzes same
• Safely carriesout exercise tolerance testing to reliably assess cardiovascular response to dynamic exercise, cardio-pulmonary exercise tests and tilt table testing to participate a vaso-vagal response
• Performs proficiency when using equipment
• Assists with the efficient and effective functioning of the Cardiology Department through effective communication skills, the fostering of team building and a family centered approach to care
• Manages telephone transmitters
• Demonstrates accountability for own professional growth through the acquisition, maintenance and growth of knowledge, skills and attitudes essential to the practice of a cardiology technologist
• Participates in continuous quality improvement projects as per job requirements
• Works in collaboration with the health care team

QUALIFICATIONS

• Police Record Check (PRC) (Essential)
• Graduate Diploma in Cardiology Technologist Program (Essential)
• Current registration with OSCT/CSCT (or pending registration) (Essential)
• Demonstrated ability to record and analyze electrocardiograms (Essential)
• Demonstrated ability to effectively record and analyze readings of ambulatory monitoring (Essential)
• Demonstrated ability to carry out exercise tolerance testing (Essential)
• Demonstrated strong knowledge of basic cardiac anatomy and physiology (Essential)
• Paediatric cardiology technology experience (Preferred)
• Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues, children, youth and their families (Essential)
• Demonstrated ability to work within a team (Essential)
• Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)
• Bilingualism (English/French) (Preferred)
• Current BCLS (Essential)

Effective March 29, 2021, CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam, or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested.

Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated by a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third party provider. Candidates will be required to meet the minimum linguistic profile prior to the date of hire.
