Unit Summary

The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) program is located at the Hamilton General Hospital (HGH) site of Hamilton Health Sciences. Patients are assessed on an outpatient basis within the Neurosciences Ambulatory Centre at HGH.

Position Summary

As a member of the Epilepsy team, the Psychometrist will provide psychometric support to the Clinical Neuropsychologist within the EMU at HGH. Familiarity and experience working with adult populations experiencing neurological disorders, in addition to a sound working knowledge and experience in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of neuropsychological (i.e., psychological, cognitive, sensory-perceptual, motor) test measures, is required. Report writing experience is also an asset, but not a requirement; however, the Psychometrist will be expected to gather and summarize behavioural observations in written form. The Psychometrist will be expected to maintain current knowledge about standardized and evidence-based testing and assessment instruments.

Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in psychology preferred
2. Experience in conducting comprehensive neuropsychological assessments of adults
3. Experience in using standardized and current cognitive and psychological assessment and testing measures with adults
4. Experience and skill in consultation and communicating feedback to adults and their families
5. Minimum of two years recent experience working with adult populations
6. Recent experience working with adult populations experiencing seizure disorders is considered an asset
7. Excellent interpersonal skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
9. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning
10. Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and problem-solve effectively
11. Demonstrated skills working within a multi-disciplinary team
