Full job description

General Manager – Bruce Mazda

Kentville, Nova Scotia

For nearly 100 years, Bruce Auto Group has grown from small-town roots into one of the largest automotive groups in the Maritimes, built on a commitment to our customers, our people, and the communities we call home.

We are looking for an experienced and driven General Manager to lead Bruce Mazda in Kentville, Nova Scotia.

The Opportunity

Bruce Mazda is a small operation that packs a punch! — a 15-person team currently moving approximately 350 new and used units per year, with significant room to grow. As General Manager, you'll have the autonomy to run the store and shape its next chapter, backed by dedicated corporate support in HR, IT, marketing, and accounting, and reporting to our Regional VP.

Bruce Mazda sits in the heart of the Annapolis Valley — rolling farmland, vineyards, the Bay of Fundy coastline, and some of the best small-town living in Atlantic Canada, with Halifax under an hour away. We welcome qualified applicants from anywhere in Canada willing to relocate.

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee the overall operation, profitability, and performance of the dealership
  • Hire, coach, develop, and support department leaders and their teams
  • Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, targets, and objectives
  • Review sales, profit margins, expenses, inventory values, and operational results to identify opportunities for growth
  • Ensure dealership and departmental goals align with Mazda Canada's standards and objectives
  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with the manufacturer
  • Promote collaboration and accountability across all departments
  • Ensure an exceptional experience for both customers and employees
  • Maintain high standards of integrity, professionalism, and operational excellence

What You Bring

You are a confident and approachable leader who knows how to bring out the best in a team, balancing strong financial performance with employee engagement and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5 years of automotive dealership management experience, including at least 2 years in a General Manager, General Sales Manager, or Fixed Operations Manager role
  • Strong knowledge of all dealership operations including sales, service and parts
  • A proven record of achieving profitability and customer satisfaction goals
  • Strong financial, operational, and business acumen
  • Experience developing budgets, forecasts, and performance strategies
  • The ability to coach, motivate, and hold teams accountable
  • Strong understanding of dealership marketing using traditional and online channels
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • A leadership style grounded in doing right by others, embracing change, working as one team, and being audacious
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • Eligible to work in Canada;
  • Willing to relocate to the Annapolis Valley if not currently local
  • Experience with PBS and VAuto is considered an asset
  • Mazda brand experience a plus but not required

Compensation

Base salary $80,000–$100,000, plus a monthly percentage of the dealership net profit. Total earning potential of $140,000+ annually.

As an employee of the Bruce family, you will also enjoy:

  • Paid Vacation and paid Personal Time Off for a healthy work-life balance
  • Group RRSP with Matching Contributions, TFSA, and VIP Banking Services
  • Comprehensive Insurance and Medical Benefits for you and your family
  • 24/7 Virtual Healthcare Platform — primary care, counselling, and legal support for the whole family
  • Executive Leadership Development and collaboration with experienced automotive professionals
  • The resources and backing of an established dealer group, with the autonomy to lead your own store
  • A collaborative culture where strong leadership and new ideas are recognized and values
  • Employee Discounts across the entire Bruce Auto Group

If you are an experienced automotive leader ready to make an impact and help guide Bruce Mazda into its next chapter, please apply directly and in confidence to JP Martel, Executive VP, at jmartel@bruceautogroup.com. All inquiries will be handled with discretion.

Pay: $80,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
