Job Description

Looking for a pharmacy assistant / technician in a downtown Oshawa retail pharmacy. Full time and Part time opportunities available. As the pharmacy assistant, you will be working together with the staff pharmacist and playing a key role in helping our pharmacy run smoothly and effectively. Must have a friendly and an outgoing personality to fit in with the positive energy of the pharmacy.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering superior customer service.
  • Respond to face to face and telephone inquiries of a routine nature from patients and healthcare practitioners.
  • Create and maintain electronic patient records.
  • Dispense medication and other medical products to patients under pharmacist’s supervision.
  • Count pills, label bottles to prepare prescriptions for patients as directed.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of medicines and pharmaceutical supplies, and place orders for additional inventory as directed by pharmacist
  • Maintain a clean and organized work space and dispensary.
  • Perform administrative duties, including managing the cash registers and ensuring products and shelves are kept neat and tidy.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Knowledge with Fillware software is preferred.
  • Experience dispensing Methadone is preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of demonstrated customer service experience in a fast paced environment, pharmacy or healthcare setting is proffered but not required.
  • Maintenance of store front inventory experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, ability to prioritize and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a team setting.
  • Technician accreditation is not a requirement.
