3. Hazard Identification & Risk Control
- Perform regular site inspections and hazard assessments (JHAs, FLHAs, Risk assessments).
- Identify unsafe conditions or practices and work with supervisors to implement corrective actions.
- Verify that control measures are in place and effective.
4. Incident Response & Investigation
- Assist with emergency response coordination and ensure readiness of equipment and procedures.
- Participate in incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and development of corrective/preventive actions.
- Track and follow up on action items to closure.
5. Training & Worker Support
- Deliver or coordinate safety training as required (PPE use, confined space, fall protection, equipment safety, etc.).
- Support workers in understanding safe work procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Encourage reporting of hazards, near misses, and safety concerns without fear of reprisal.
6. Environmental Stewardship
- Monitor environmental compliance (waste management, spill prevention, emissions, noise, wildlife considerations).
- Support environmental reporting and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Additional certifications depending on industry (e.g., construction safety training, confined space, fall protection).
- Experience on hydro project sites
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
