Job Description – Health & Safety Coordinator

TIW Western Inc. is the leading manufacturer of custom-designed heat transfer products for the Oil & Gas and Utilities industries in Western Canada. We specialize in producing OTSGs, HRSGs, Fired Heaters, and Waste Heat Recovery solutions. Our products are engineered using a blend of proprietary in-house heat transfer design programs and industry-standard software. At TIW Western, our culture is built on inclusiveness and teamwork, allowing us to provide exceptional products and services to our clients.

We are seeking an energetic and driven Health & Safety Coordinator to join our growing team. Reporting to the Material & Safety Manager, this full-time salaried role is based in our Calgary office. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Maintain corporate Safety Compliance Sites (ISN, Comply Works, Avetta)

· Compile and monitor safety statistics

· Review and maintain Corporate Safety Manual

· Review and update Safe Work Procedure & Hazard Assessments

· Chair and maintain Health & Safety Committee Meetings

· Prepare and issue monthly safety meeting topics to all staff

· Carry out Incident Investigations and issue documentation for management review

· Coordinate and carry out the annual COR Audit

· Monitor and assess WCB claims correspondence

· Complete new hire and sub-contractor orientations, including sign-on documentation

· Maintain records and schedule employee training

· Maintain safety documentation in an organized manner

· Carry out routine shop walks and inspections

· Ensure monthly shop/office inspections are completed, and finalize and distribute documentation

· Any additional duties as required

Required Skills and Experience

  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of dedicated safety experience working directly inside a welding, heavy fabrication, manufacturing, or heavy industrial shop floor environment (Required).
  • Designation: Active National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation or an Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Certificate/Diploma is highly preferred.
  • Legislation: Deep working knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, Regulation, and Code.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal communication skills with the ability to gain buy-in and respect from a large, fast-paced workforce of tradespeople.
  • Strong computer Skills
