The Smoky Lake Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing and designated supportive living services for seniors and individuals in the communities throughout Smoky Lake County.

Bar-V-Nook Manor and Supportive Living, located in the vibrant community of Smoky Lake 116 km northeast of Edmonton, is seeking Casual General Worker. Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Food Service Aide to join our team in providing quality nutritional support within assisted living, nursing home, or hospital settings. The ideal candidate will assist with food preparation, serving, sanitation, and overall meal service to ensure residents and patients receive nutritious and timely meals. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of individuals in need of dietary assistance while working in a supportive healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food production and meal preparation in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards
  • Serve meals to residents or patients with professionalism and courtesy
  • Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas
  • Buss tables and assist with cleaning and sanitation of dishes, utensils, and food service areas
  • Support dietary department staff in meal assembly, portioning, and delivery
  • Follow all food safety protocols to prevent contamination or spoilage
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment adhering to sanitation standards
  • Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies as needed
  • Support residents or patients during meal times, ensuring comfort and satisfaction

Experience

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is preferred
  • Culinary experience or food service background is advantageous
  • Dietary aide or dietary department experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of food safety practices, sanitation procedures, and proper food handling techniques
  • Strong time management skills to efficiently prepare and serve meals within scheduled times
  • Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach toward residents or patients
  • Familiarity with food preparation, cooking, serving, bussing, and cleaning duties related to healthcare or hospitality settings
