Summary

We are seeking an experienced HSE Coordinator to support the successful delivery of a major Industrial Fire Protection construction project in North Vancouver. This onsite role is ideal for an experienced safety professional who enjoys working directly with crews in the field and takes a proactive approach to safety.

About the Role

The HSE Coordinator plays a key role in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment and will actively participate in daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in regular meetings with the project team and provides input from a safety perspective towards achieving project schedules.
  • Ensures all site-specific safety orientations take place for all employees.
  • Ensure hazard assessments are completed and field level risk assessments are identified prior to beginning work activities.
  • Participates and records action items in pre-job safety meetings and daily tailgate/toolbox meetings
  • Ensures all First Aid and Safety Supplies are in good supply and in good working order
  • Assists with the completion of safety audits.
  • Participates in the Personal Safety Involvement (PSI) program.
  • Completes weekly statistical safety reporting for the project.
  • Ensures the HSE filing system and training matrix is in place and maintained for the project.
  • Ensures safe-work agreements (permits) are received and filed in the appropriate manner.
  • Participates in daily site walks to observe workers / procedures and offer recommendation / correction as required.
  • Provide positive reinforcement where actions/choices have resulted in avoidance of safety infractions
  • Complies with standards and procedures of the Gisborne HSE Manual and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.

Qualifications

  • NCSO or equivalent experience
  • Experience in inspections and investigations
  • 5 + years of onsite working experience onsite as a Safety Coordinator on industrial projects
  • WSBC Supervising for Safety Certification or Leadership for Safety Excellence - Preferred
  • Construction Safety Training System - Preferred
  • Detailed oriented professional, with excellent time management and follow-up skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work extensively with MS Office Suite
  • Standard Level 1 First Aid or Equivalent
  • A strong understanding of related Occupational Health and Safety regulations per project requirements
  • Strong organizational skills to properly coordinate large volume activities and meet deadlines.

Compensation:

  • $40.00/hour
  • Extended Health and Dental Benefits
  • Employer RRSP Contributions

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 10-hour shifts
  • 8 hours straight time and 2 hours overtime per day

Anticipated Start Date July 20, 2026

Pay: $40.00 per hour
