Full job description

Job Summary

The Rural Municipality of Brokenhead is seeking a leadership candidate who will embrace and develop the Community Safety Officer Program in our municipality. This position will support the safety and well being of the community and partner agencies, including local law enforcement. Appointed under The Police Services Act and the Community Safety Officer Regulation, CSO's are designated as peace officers while carrying out the duties authorized through their appointment agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce by-laws and community safety regulations
  • Provide security services as required.
  • Serve legal documents
  • Support emergency response efforts as required
  • Collect, document and preserve evidence and prepare accurate, complete and timely reports.
  • Appear in court as required
  • Foster strong working relationships with community members and other agencies.
  • Support and participate in community wellness programs, crime prevention initiatives and youth engagement activities.
  • Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

Grade 12 education, or higher

Valid Manitoba Class 4 Drivers License

Demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-pressure environment

Ability to de-escalate conflict and exercise sound judgment in stressful situations.

Experience using computers and basic software.

Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Must be willing to complete all mandatory safety and use-of-force training as required by the program.

Clear and current Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, Child/Adult Abuse Registry Checks

Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
