Company Overview

Kerkhoff Develop Build is seeking one or more experienced Site Superintendent(s) or Assistant Superintendent(s) to join our team on the University Heights project in Victoria, BC. This is a full time, term limited opportunity for up to nine months with the possibility of an extension. The level of appointment will be based on the successful candidate's experience and demonstrated capability. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for managing and coordinating on site construction activities to ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, and to Kerkhoff's quality standards.

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant or Site Superintendent(s) to join our team at Kerkhoff Develop Build. In this role you will oversee key aspects of the University Heights project, ensuring it is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your leadership will be vital in maintaining our reputation for excellence in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities (Level‑Appropriate)

  • Coordinate and supervise day to day on site construction activities
  • Direct subcontractors, trade foremen, and site staff
  • Manage site logistics, trade sequencing, and material deliveries
  • Enforce WorkSafeBC regulations and Kerkhoff safety standards
  • Conduct regular safety walks and address hazards immediately
  • Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Perform ongoing quality control inspections and manage deficiencies
  • Complete daily reports and site photography using Procore
  • Maintain site documentation, drawings, and records
  • Coordinate with consultants, inspectors, and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Communicate schedule, scope, and field issues to the Project Manager

Requirements

Assistant Superintendent

  • 3 to 6 years of experience as a Foreman or Assistant Superintendent
  • Strong understanding of wood frame and/or concrete multifamily construction
  • Ability to read drawings, coordinate trades, and manage site activities

Site Superintendent

  • 7 or more years of experience in site supervision roles
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex construction projects
  • Strong leadership, organization, and decision making skills

Assets for Either Role

  • Familiarity with the BC Building Code, WorkSafeBC regulations, and occupancy processes
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety, scheduling, and quality assurance standards
  • Proven ability to manage projects on time, on budget, and to client satisfaction
  • First Aid, CSTS, and Fall Protection certifications
  • Proficiency in Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and project scheduling software
  • Construction Management diploma or equivalent field experience
  • Professional communication skills and strong site presence
  • Professional appearance and conduct are required; unprofessional behaviour may lead to dismissal
