About Us

Maritime Launch Services is a Canadian-owned commercial space company building Spaceport Nova Scotia near the communities of Canso, Hazel Hill and Little Dover in the Municipality of Guysborough, Nova Scotia. Our mission is to deliver satellite launch services that strengthen Canada’s position in the global space economy and enable sovereign access to space. Maritime Launch is a public company trading on the Cboe CA under the ticker MAXQ.

We are now entering an exciting phase of growth, moving from planning to sustained delivery: scaling the organization, strengthening partnerships, and preparing for ongoing launch operations. If you are motivated by ambitious, nation-building work and want to help create something that has never existed in Canada before, this is the moment to join!

We’re looking for a proactive and efficient HR Generalist to support the daily operation of the HR function. A high focus area for this role is managing the recruitment and onboarding function, while supporting key HR areas including benefit and payroll administration, compliance, performance management and employee engagement. The ideal candidate is motivated by big goals and truly loves working with and supporting others.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment activities, including drafting job postings, sourcing candidates, coordinating interviews, attending career fairs, and creating a positive candidate experience.
  • Own onboarding activities, prepare employment documentation, and help ensure new employees have a seamless and engaging start with the company.
  • Support employee engagement, inclusion, recognition, wellbeing, and workplace culture initiatives that help create a positive employee experience.
  • Lead performance management processes by tracking goals, supporting performance reviews, and providing guidance to managers on employee matters.
  • Administer payroll, benefits, employee records, HR reporting, and other day-to-day HR operations while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Support health and safety programs, WCB claims, disability management, accommodations, and return-to-work processes.
  • Help develop and implement HR programs, policies, and compliance initiatives that support a growing and dynamic organization.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar role.
  • At least 1 year of recruitment experience.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Payroll, HRIS, and CPHR designation are considered assets.

Location & Flexibility

  • We offer a hybrid work environment that provides the flexibility of working remotely while also creating opportunities for in-person collaboration at our Halifax or Canso area locations.
  • We welcome candidates residing in Halifax and surrounding communities. We also encourage and welcome candidates from Canso and nearby communities, including Mulgrave, Port Hawkesbury, St. Peter’s, Sherbrooke, Isaacs Harbour, Little Dover, and other surrounding communities across the Eastern Shore and Guysborough County region.
  • In addition, we offer the flexibility to begin the role on a fully remote basis for a limited period during onboarding and relocation, where applicable.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
  • Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage.
  • Short and long-term disability insurance.
  • Life insurance, parental leave benefits, and various other benefits.

Our Commitment to Employment Equity and Diversity

Maritime Launch Services is committed to building an inclusive workplace that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and encourage applications from individuals who identify as Indigenous, African Nova Scotian, members of racialized communities, women, persons with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQIA+ persons.

We are committed to equitable hiring practices and creating a respectful, safe, and supportive working environment where every employee can thrive.
