As a Welder at Apogee Steel Fabrication, a Ryerson Family of Companies, you will be responsible for prepping and welding various parts from commerical kitchen equipment to roof hatches.


This position is a temporary, 6 month contract position.


This position will work Monday through Thursday from 6:30am to 4:00 pm and Friday from 6:30am to 3:00pm.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Applies appropriate welding and fabrication processes to metals such as carbon steel, stainless and aluminum
  • Works according to the layouts, work orders and blueprints provided
  • Lay out and mark weld points on parts or sub-assemblies. Position pieces to be welded into jigs and fixtures using measuring equipment and hand tools
  • Inspects completed work for confrormance to specifications
  • Observes all safety practices and procedures
  • Packaging of material to customer requirements
  • Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
  • Proper completion work order confirmation in SAP
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3 years of similar job experience required
  • MIG and TIG welding experience required
  • Welding Certificate required
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience is an asset
  • Mathematical accumen is required
  • Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
  • Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility

$30.89 to $32.00/hour. A starting rate higher than $30.89/hr is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
