Job Title: Livestock Barn Worker

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Harvest employee to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the operations of the harvest process, specifically the handling of large livestock, food safety processes of animal carcasses and by-products. Beretta Farms is a federally inspected facility and complies with CFIA regulated procedures.

Responsibilities:

1. Livestock Handling: Safely and humanely pen the animal and facilitate the movement through the chute system.

2. Animal Care: Understand basic care for livestock, including feeding, watering, and monitoring for signs of illness or distress.

3. Have experience with firearms and have completed the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and obtained a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL).

4. Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of livestock and understand separation methodologies.

5. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of tasks.

6. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries to yourself or others.

Requirements:

1. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with large livestock in a processing facility.

2. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.

3. Animal Welfare Knowledge: Understanding of animal behavior and welfare principles, with a commitment to providing compassionate care to livestock.

4. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and observational skills to detect signs of illness or injury in livestock.

5. Team Player: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals.

6. Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
