Job description

We're looking for an experienced embedded software engineer to join our development team. You will be working on a small software team to produce code for a new robotic product. Embedded experience is a must for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software (firmware)
  • Interact frequently with the team via GitHub issues/pull-requests/projects, code reviews, instant messaging, and email
  • Report frequently on progress against key project deliverables
  • Work independently with general direction from team leads

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience using RTOS with C++
  • Experience adapting C code to work with C++
  • Experience with GCC for ARM toolchain under Linux development environment
  • Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers
  • Experience debugging embedded systems with GDB and SEGGER tools
  • Experience configuring scheduler, task priorities, and interrupt priorities in an embedded system
  • Strong experience with object oriented programming methodologies, especially design patterns and data structures
  • Experience integrating control code, especially a motor driver, inertial measurement unit (IMU), gyroscope (gyro), or accelerometer
  • Experience writing device drivers with DMA
  • Hands-on experience of using oscilloscope to do basic electronic circuit troubleshooting

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent
  • Strong experience with embedded C++ and C (at least 3 years)
  • 2-years experience with embedded ARM micro-processors
  • Experience writing device drivers
  • Experience with multi-threaded design
  • Experience configuring, debugging, and profiling a real-time operating system (RTOS)
  • Experience writing or editing Makefiles, shell scripts, or equivalent
  • Experience with Git or SVN
  • Experience reading datasheets and schematics
