Full job description

Zup’s Fishing Resort & Canoe Outfitters is looking for a highly motivated, experienced Dock Hand who wants to be part of a unique remote experience we offer our private island guests. The seclusion of island life and immersion in the wilderness of Lac La Croix can be a season of personal fulfilment for the ideal candidate.

Dock Hands will need to be knowledgeable in boats and motors, general maintenance, general property upkeep and a have a passion for excellence in customer service.

This position is a seasonal full- time position, 7 days per week, with a rotation of an afternoon break, on evening you have a 2-3 hour night shift. June – October 1 contract.

Responsibilities and Experience:

-MUST HAVE A VALID DIVERS LICENSE

- Boat and motor experience

- Lifting gear and canoes 50-100lbs

- Navigating the lake after training

- Trapping bait

- Fish Cleaning for customers

- Yard Maintenance

- Fueling boats, Oil check and changes, battery replacements

- Having a good team attitude, working well with other staff and customers

- Take direction on tasks asked by Manager or owner.

- Maintain a clean, organized, safe and hazard free work environment

- Be a self-starter and work with minimum supervision

Start your morning with a hot breakfast and then hit the docks to assist customers with boats, bait, loading up canoe parties in the tow boats, and sharing a few secret fishing spots. Once the morning rush is over there will be daily duties such as trapping bait, and resort/ lawn upkeep.

After lunch there will be a rotation between the dock hands on who gets the afternoon off.

  • If it is your afternoon to have off you can spend your afternoon exploring the area, fishing, swimming, or taking a rest. You will start work for the evening shift after dinner which includes fueling all boats, switching batteries, evening duties, and your shift ends once all customers are off the lake.
  • If you work after lunch you will help customers coming into the lodge, setting up their boats, helping them to their cabins, and assisting Tow boat operators. Your shift ends at dinner... and your evenings can be spent fishing, exploring, hiking, and enjoying all the beauty of our remote location.
