POSITION TITLE: Holistic Services Support Worker

TYPE: 28 - 35 hours per week, Term position, subject to funding

LOCATION: Takla Landing

WAGE: $25.00/hour

ABOUT TAKLA FIRST NATION:

The traditional territory of the Takla Nation is located in North Central British Columbia and totals approximately 27,250 square kilometers. The territory is a rich environment of lakes, rivers, forests, and mountains, bordered on the west by the Skeena Mountains and on the east by the Rocky Mountains.

Our traditional lands are the geographic area occupied by our ancestors for community, social, economic, and spiritual purposes. Carrier and Sekani place names exist for every physical feature and place that we occupy. Each name reflects the significance of the feature or site, and today, it provides us with historical information about the rich history and extensive knowledge of our land and resources.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Holistic Services Support Worker helps Takla Nation members access programs, services, resources, and community activities that support health, wellness, and overall well-being. Working with Elders, individuals, families, and community partners, the Support Worker provides practical support, transportation assistance, and guidance to help community members connect with the supports they need. The position contributes to a welcoming, respectful, and culturally grounded environment that promotes community connection and quality of life.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Support community members, including Elders, adults, youth, and families, by helping them access programs, services, resources, and community supports.

· Assist community members with accessing health, social, cultural, and community services by providing information, encouragement, referrals, and practical support as needed.

· Provide transportation support to community members, particularly Elders, including transportation to appointments, programs, community events, and other approved activities.

· Help organize and support community programs, cultural activities, wellness initiatives, appointments, events, and gatherings that promote connection and well-being.

· Build positive relationships with community members, Elders, service providers, and partner organizations while promoting a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment.

· Provide general administrative and operational support to the Holistic Services department.

· Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Work takes place in a variety of settings, including the office, community events, programs, and activities.

· Regular interaction with community members, Elders, families, and service providers.

· Travel within and outside the community may be required to support participation in appointments, programs, services, and community events.

· Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends based on community and program needs.

· May occasionally be required to lift, carry, or assist with moving supplies, equipment, or individuals weighing 50+ pounds.

· This position is intended for individuals with lived and/or living experience related to addiction, mental health challenges, recovery, or other life experiences that enable them to connect with and support community members from a place of understanding, compassion, and respect. Such knowledge and experience are highly valued and a significant asset to this position.

· Ability to communicate respectfully and work positively with community members, Elders, families, and service providers.

· Demonstrates compassion, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the well-being of others.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.

· Willingness to learn, accept guidance, and participate in training and professional development.

· Basic computer and administrative skills, or a willingness to develop these skills on the job.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

· Experience with lived and/or living experience related to addiction, mental health challenges, recovery, trauma or other life experiences.

· Experience supporting community members, Elders, youth, families, or peers through volunteer work, cultural activities, caregiving, or community involvement is considered an asset.

· Knowledge of Takla Nation culture, traditions, values, and community resources is considered an asset.

· Applicants with a willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to community well-being are strongly encouraged to apply.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

· Valid Class 5 Driver's License and acceptable Driver's Abstract.

· Emergency First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain).

· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

· Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.

· Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings or weekends as required.
