Meat & Seafood Department Manager

Location: 50 Matheson Blvd, Mississauga
Salary: $50,000 – $60,000

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Meat & Seafood Department Manager to oversee the daily operations of both departments. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent product knowledge in meat and seafood, and experience maintaining the highest standards of quality, food safety, and customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the meat and seafood departments, ensuring high standards of quality, cleanliness, and food safety.

  • Supervise, train, and schedule department staff.

  • Order, receive, and manage inventory for fresh and frozen meat and seafood products.

  • Ensure proper cutting, filleting, packaging, labeling, and storage of products.

  • Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and store policies.

  • Monitor product freshness and minimize waste through effective inventory management.

  • Ensure proper handling and segregation of Halal and Kosher meat products according to required standards.

  • Maintain attractive product displays and ensure both departments are fully stocked.

  • Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with product selection and special orders.

  • Work with store management to meet sales targets and maintain department profitability.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in meat and/or seafood departments within a supermarket or grocery store.

  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of meat cuts, seafood handling, filleting, and merchandising.

  • Experience handling Halal and Kosher meat products and understanding proper handling practices.

  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and manage multiple tasks.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays if required.
