Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Human Resources Specialist who works with the Director of Human Resources, department Managers, and employees to ensure that activities related to recruitment, on-boarding, benefits, work-related injuries, non-work-related absences, scheduling preferences, event planning, terminations, etc., are properly administered in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer the union recruitment process such as posting job openings, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and handling initial communications with candidates
  • Preparing and processing new employee documentation, including onboarding paperwork, payroll details, and benefits enrolment
  • Laise with Payroll while maintaining accurate employee records for new hires, terminations, leaves, transfers, and other changes
  • Administration of short-term disability and WorkSafeBC claims.
  • Process employee enquiries including employment confirmation letters, Friends/Family/Employee room discounts, work permits changes, transit plan changes, Key/name tag replacement, etc.
  • Assist the HR Director in planning, coordinating, and executing all Employee Appreciation related events
  • Gathers all scheduling preferences and produces a seniority list every tri-mester.
  • Assists Director of Human Resources with updating content for hotel-wide communications
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of Two (2) year experience as a Human Resources Specialist or Human Resources Advisor
  • A degree or diploma in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience dealing with benefits including Short Term Disability and WorkSafeBC claims
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with various departments and employees
  • Attention to detail for maintaining organized, accurate records
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities for handling multiple HR functions simultaneously
