Career Opportunity
We are currently seeking 4 GENERAL MILLWRIGHTS. These positions are on a 40-hour work-week with one of the following 1. Various Shift with Various Off Days 2. Day Shift with Saturday and Sunday as off days 3. Swing (Day) Shift with Swing (Saturday/Sunday) as off days. This recruitment may be utilized for future opportunities that become available. What You Will Do
- Perform moderately complex installation, inspection, overhaul, repair and maintenance to a wide variety of mechanical equipment, including components and related hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Troubleshoot, install and maintain industrial hydraulic and pneumatic systems on rail work cars
- Follow GD&T principles during fitting and overhaul operations
- Treat passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers and/or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within your area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.
What Skills and Qualifications Do You Bring?
- A valid Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate of Qualification issued by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities
- Completion of Grade 12 or its recognized equivalent as determined by the Training Department
- One year of experience working with a variety of complex hydraulic systems such as load and power sensing systems, variable volume systems, hydrostatic components, servo-proportional valves and programmable logic controlled (PLC) systems is preferred
- You currently have a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class "G" driver's license in good standing with the ability to upgrade to a "DZ"
- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Familiarity with, and experienced in, the maintenance of a large variety of shop equipment
- General knowledge of shop practices and the ability to propose and devise improvements to maintenance procedures for shop equipment
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical and electronic systems
- Ability to pass tests set by the Operations Group which corresponds in content to the knowledge, theory and/or practical requirements described above
- The successful candidate will be required to attend and successfully complete training programs for Subway/SRT Rule Book certification, forklift truck, trackmobile, and transfer table operations and non-revenue rail vehicle operations (pertinent to the assigned location)
- Must provide own tools as per the established tool list
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
