Schedule: Sunday-Thursday (need to be open to shifts)
1st shift hours 6am to 2pm
2nd shift hours 2pm to 10pm
3rd shift hours 10pm to 6am (current opening)
The starting hourly wage for this role is $22.18/hr

Role Overview:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Roaster ensures that coffee is roasted in a manner consistent with Ethical Bean’s HACCP program, production guidelines and policies. They must understand and follow all company Health and Safety guidelines In addition to these primary duties the Roaster will assist the Production Manager by acting as “lead hand” on the afternoon shift or in the Production Manager’s absence. The Roaster will also assist on the packaging line where possible and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:
  • Green coffee selection/weighing.
  • Roaster operation/profile selection.
  • Performing daily/weekly/monthly roaster cleaning and servicing.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and maintaining the roaster and other production equipment
  • Maintaining an accurate roast log and roaster maintenance log
  • Ensuring accurate QR codes are created for every roast.
  • Accurately tagging roasted coffee for the packaging line
  • Consistently following the roast schedule to ensure both ‘roast to order’ and ‘roast to inventory’

  • Operate forklift to move green coffee/packaging supplies
Requirements
  • High school completion
  • Fork lift certificate (or demonstrated experience from previous position)
  • Will train on actual roaster operation - candidate should be able to follow and communicate well in spoken and written English, have basic math skills, basic computer skills, good mechanical aptitude, ability to lift 50lbs and move bags weighing up to 150 lbs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and communicate clearly any equipment issue to service
personnel. Familiarity with and or experience working in a food production environment is an asset.
  • Availability to work weekends and a variety of shifts is an asset
