Who are we?

Greater Vancouver Community Services Society is one of BC's oldest and largest accredited community care service providers. Since 1988, GVCSS has offered specialized care and supervision for individuals with profound physical and developmental disabilities through the operation of six group homes in the Lower Mainland.

The GVCSS Community Living Program is proud to have been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) since 2006.

We are looking for people with the right combination of passion, skills, and dedication to support the school-age children and youth in our respite shared living home. If this type of experience interests you, we would love to hear from you.

Job Summary:

Staff members working as part of a team to ensure that each person living staying in the respite shared living home has the opportunity and support for independence, learning and self-expression according to their individual abilities and preferences. Child and Youth workers help to create and maintain a comfortable home environment and provide opportunities and support for active participation of the individual in the community.

Schedule: Casual

Location: Chilliwack, BC (exact location will be provided to successful applicants only)

Wage: $29.62 per hour (starting wage on BCGEU wage grid)

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary certificate in a related field, or a blend of education, training and experience
  • Current “Emergency Child and Youth Care” First Aid and Cardio-pulmonary certification
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License (travel will be required throughout the Fraser Valley -Chilliwack)
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English verbally and in writing
  • Ability in conflict resolution, critical thinking and personnel interaction
  • Ability to work independently but within a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure while still maintaining time restrictions
  • Competency in computer skills
