Full job description

Rapid Signs is a fast-growing, family-owned sign manufacturing company with over 40 years of experience producing everything from large-format hoardings and building wraps to sales centre graphics, wayfinding, and custom signage projects. We're looking for an experienced Prepress Operator & Production Designer to join our team and play a key role in preparing artwork, managing production files, and operating our large-format printing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare customer-supplied artwork for large-format print production.
  • Create and modify signage layouts, mockups, and production-ready files.
  • Set up files with proper bleeds, scaling, paneling, cut paths, and production specifications.
  • Review artwork for quality, resolution, colour accuracy, and print readiness.
  • Operate large-format printers and RIP software to produce high-quality graphics.
  • Manage print queues, material selection, colour consistency, and machine maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot printing and artwork issues to minimize production delays.
  • Coordinate with project managers, designers, and production staff to ensure projects move efficiently through production.
  • Create proofs and revisions for client approval.
  • Recreate or modify artwork when required and assist with design development.
  • Maintain organized file structures and production documentation.
  • Support finishing and fabrication teams with production specifications and installation requirements.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in signage, large-format printing, prepress, or graphic design.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Experience operating large-format printers and RIP software.
  • Solid understanding of print production, colour management, scaling, paneling, and file preparation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot both artwork and production challenges independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
