Program Manager, CASA House and Adolescent Day Program - Fort McMurray
Help build the future of adolescent mental health care in Alberta.
CASA Mental Health is expanding its circle of care around the province to provide much-needed mental health services to as many families as possible – where they need it, when they need it. As part of this expansion, CASA Mental Health is opening a CASA House facility in Fort McMurray in 2027 that will serve youth with both day and live-in programming. CASA House is a live-in program for teens who need support with significant mental health and/or addiction challenges. Teens stay at CASA House for an average of four months.
This is a unique opportunity to help establish a first-of-its-kind service in your community. As a foundational leader, you will play a key role in building the program before opening, including recruiting and developing high-performing teams, establishing clinical and operational processes, strengthening community partnerships and preparing the program to deliver exceptional care from day one.

Successful candidates will be energized by the opportunity to establish services and shape organizational culture from the ground up.
The Program Manager will:
- Provide operational direction and service delivery leadership, including performance management, mentorship and coaching of interprofessional staff, workforce planning, staff education, quality improvement and evaluation.
- Work closely with internal and external careholders to develop integrated service pathways that ensure adolescents and families receive seamless, evidence-informed mental health care.
- Model, develop and promote effective, collaborative communication within and between teams to promote a safe, respectful and trusting workplace culture.
- Organize and participate in external engagements representing CASA Mental Health, including presentations at events/meetings, attending exhibits and speaking with the community at large.
- Promote a culture of growth and development, providing leadership, guidance and support to program, clinical and educational staff
- Initiate and lead the recruitment cycle, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, offboarding and termination.
- Oversee a collaborative leadership model, providing leadership and direction to Program Supervisors, physicians and interprofessional team members to support the development and implementation of high-functioning teams.
- Effectively allocate personnel and operations budgets, including travel and transportation allocations.
- Graduate degree in clinical psychology, social work (with psycho-social intervention designation), occupational therapy or nursing; or a bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum of five years of experience in child and family mental health and at least two years of leadership experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education, professional registration and progressive leadership experience in clinical health care environments may also be considered.
- Current registration and good standing with the applicable professional regulatory college under Alberta's Health Professions Act.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in child and youth mental health, addictions, acute health care or related human services.
- Minimum of two years of leadership experience in a health-care setting.
- Demonstrated experience leading interprofessional teams, managing operations, developing staff and driving quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience leading the development, implementation or expansion of clinical programs or services is an asset.
- Project management experience, including operational readiness, implementation planning or change management is an asset.
- Experience collaborating across health care, education and community sectors is an asset.
- Certification in Lean methodology, quality improvement or project management is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in all aspects of clinical practice, including the ability to monitor, supervise and educate on clinical practice standards and relevant Acts and Legislation.
- Commitment to quality improvement processes by using enhanced skills in program design and evaluation.
- Understanding of interprofessional approach to mental health issues, Grades 7 - 12 health care education environments and inpatient mental health nursing practices.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team to achieve objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to identify barriers, adapt to new or unexpected situations and facilitate solution development.
- Ability to collaborate with and build consensus across internal and external programs and services.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Conditions of Employment
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
- Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
Working Conditions
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required to travel between CASA sites within geographical areas and to organizational learning days at various provincial locations.
