About the Opportunity

Our private sector client, is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join their growing team in Ottawa. This newly created role has been established due to continued organizational growth and increased contract management requirements across both government and commercial programs.

This is a high impact opportunity for a seasoned contracts professional who thrives in a fast paced, highly regulated environment and enjoys managing the full lifecycle of complex agreements within the defence, aerospace, and government contracting space. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership, finance, subcontractors, suppliers, and external stakeholders while supporting major Canadian and international programs.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Contracts Manager will oversee the administration, negotiation, compliance, and execution of contracts across a broad portfolio of government and commercial agreements. This position will play a key role in proposal and bid support activities, supplier negotiations, contract amendments, and ongoing contract performance management.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Manage the full contract lifecycle including proposal support, negotiation, award, execution, amendments, risk management, and closeout activities
Lead and support bid and proposal activities including compliance matrices, pricing inputs, costing models, and contractual reviews
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, NDAs, MOUs, Technical Assistance Agreements, maintenance agreements, and related documentation
Manage supplier and subcontractor contractual relationships following contract award
Coordinate with finance, engineering, supply chain, legal counsel, and program teams to ensure contractual obligations are met
Serve as a primary point of contact for contractual matters involving customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and government stakeholders
Support contract compliance within Canadian defence procurement frameworks and federal procurement environments
Monitor contractual performance, milestones, amendments, deliverables, and payments
Identify and mitigate contractual, financial, operational, and schedule-related risks
Maintain audit ready contract documentation and reporting practices
Ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR, Controlled Goods, and security requirements
Support customer quote preparation and commercial review processes
About You

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and commercially minded contracts professional with strong negotiation capabilities and experience working within regulated government or defence environments.

The successful candidate will likely have the following:
Minimum five years of experience in contract management, proposal support, procurement, or commercial management
Experience supporting government, defence, aerospace, or highly regulated industry contracts
Strong understanding of Canadian federal procurement practices and contractual frameworks
Experience negotiating complex agreements and managing supplier relationships
Advanced Excel skills with experience working on pricing models and costing structures
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
Experience supporting PSPC, DND, or related government organizations considered an asset
Familiarity with export compliance, Controlled Goods, ITAR/EAR, or defence security requirements considered an asset
About the Job
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
On-site role located in Ottawa, five days per week
Salary range: $105,000 to $140,000 plus bonus, depending on experience
