Your Opportunity

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

• Deliver informative and entertaining educational programs for organized groups and the public, e.g. Meet the Farm Animals, Mini Horse Walk, school program components
• Interact with guests in the barn during seasonal programs
• Assist with program setup/tear down, general barn maintenance
• Assist with day-to-day operations and customer service including providing general information to visitors and promotion of park initiatives
• Work in accordance with Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
• Other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications

• Experience handling a variety of small farm animals (e.g. chickens, rabbits, goats, donkeys, mini horses)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong problem solving and time management skills
• Able to offer flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, on varied terrain.
• Successful candidates will be required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
• A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G2”, with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required. *Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
• Successful candidates must provide own CSA approved safety footwear prior to first day of employment *Partial reimbursement provided in accordance with the Safety Workwear policy.
• CH parks are not accessible by public transit; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation.
