Part-Time Student Software Developer — Amp Capital

Amp Capital is building the AI control layer between industrial facilities and the electricity grid. Our software helps large energy users reduce electricity costs, automate energy decisions, and manage flexible assets like greenhouse lighting, generators, batteries, and controllable industrial loads.

We are looking for a student developer (4-Month Contract) to help support our software platform, data systems, dashboards, and AI tools. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants real startup experience and the chance to work on software that controls real-world energy infrastructure.

What You’ll Work On

  • Help improve customer dashboards and internal admin tools
  • Support backend systems for energy data, alerts, reporting, and automation
  • Work with electricity market data, weather data, utility data, and customer site data
  • Help build AI-assisted tools for forecasting, recommendations, and energy optimization
  • Support integrations with IoT devices, APIs, databases, and industrial equipment
  • Test new features, fix bugs, and improve system reliability
  • Help organize data so it can be used for future AI models and automation logic
  • Work directly with the founder on real customer problems

Ideal Candidate

  • Currently studying software engineering, computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field
  • Comfortable with some combination of Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, SQL, or AWS
  • Interested in AI, energy, automation, startups, or climate technology
  • Willing to learn quickly and solve problems independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communicator
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where not everything is perfectly defined yet

Nice to Have

  • Experience building web apps, dashboards, APIs, or automation scripts
  • Interest in AI agents, forecasting models, or optimization systems
  • Experience with databases, cloud tools, or data visualization
  • Familiarity with IoT, MQTT, Modbus, PLCs, or industrial systems
  • Personal projects, GitHub, hackathon work, or startup experience

Pay: $688.00-$1,026.00 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Leamington, ON
