Join our team as a Lead Geomembrane Installation Technician and be part of something amazing.

This full-time, permanent position will require extensive travel to job sites located across British Columbia and Alberta, with private accommodations offered to employees. Wages start at $35.50 per hour.

The ideal candidate must be a safety-focused individual, adaptable to changing schedules, enjoy working outdoors year-round, and work well within a team environment. Employment at CEC is conditional upon successfully clearing pre-employment requirements such as alcohol and drug, and fit-for-work testing.

Role Summary

The Lead Geomembrane Installation Technician provides essential technical support to ensure the successful completion of construction projects. This role involves performing a variety of construction tasks, contributing to infrastructure development, and working under the guidance of the construction manager or supervisor. The Lead Technician is responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and quality throughout the project. The ideal candidate will have hands-on construction experience, a keen eye for detail, and a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and project success.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and direct the deployment of materials for geomembrane installation projects

- Oversee the installation, welding geomembrane liners, and installing environmental containment systems

- Operate and supervise the use of plastic fusion welding equipment, including wedge welders, leisters, tensiometers, etc., and other basic hand tools

- Provide hands-on training and guidance to junior technicians, focusing on welding skills and best practices

- Identify and implement process and equipment improvements to enhance project efficiency

- Train and mentor crew members in geomembrane installation techniques and safety protocols

- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies on job sites

- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and team members to ensure project success

- General manual labor duties, including pulling geomembrane liners, filling, lifting, and placing sandbags during installation

- Perform equipment repairs and maintenance to sustain peak functionality

- Ability to tow trailers

- Other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Knowledge

- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working with geomembranes or liners in construction or a related field

- Completion of IAGI certification would be an advantage

- Proven leadership or supervisory experience, with the ability to guide and mentor team members effectively on-site will be considered an asset

- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and equipment, with proficiency in using construction machinery, hand tools, and power tools

- Physically capable of performing manual labor, including lifting heavy materials, carrying equipment, and working in varying weather conditions

- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues on-site

- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and safety

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) required
