Full job description

We are hiring a full-time legal assistant to join our firm to assist one lawyer and one law clerk only. This firm practices exclusively in Family Law and the ideal candidate would have some legal assistance experience.

You would be working with the lawyer and the law clerk as a team and would handle client/firm related matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the firm's face with respect to phone calls and incoming traffic.
  • Schedule meetings with clients, and liaise with clients over the phone and through email.
  • Handle administrative details with respect to filing, email management, opening and closing files, maintaining a file database, etc.
  • Manage information in DivorceMate.
  • Service and filing of Court documents.
  • Manage dockets, calendars, and deadlines.
  • Organize files.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in Family Law is an asset.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe.
  • Ability to diarize effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Exceptional organization/document management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
