Full job description

Lead one of Whistler's established full-service restaurants in the heart of an iconic mountain destination.

The Mexican Corner is looking for an experienced, energetic and hands-on General Manager to lead our restaurant team in Whistler, BC.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished hospitality leader who knows how to balance people, guest experience and financial performance. You'll take ownership of both Front of House and Back of House operations while developing a strong leadership team and driving the overall success of the restaurant.

We're looking for someone who doesn't just manage the restaurant from the office you'll be visible on the floor, engaged with guests, supporting your team and leading the operation through both high-volume service and the quieter moments that allow you to build a stronger business.

The current position is structured as a full-time leadership role with variable scheduling.

What You'll Lead

As General Manager, you'll have overall responsibility for restaurant performance, including:

  • Leading day-to-day FOH and BOH operations
  • Driving revenue, profitability and achievement of restaurant KPIs
  • Managing labour, COGS, inventory, purchasing and other controllable expenses
  • Forecasting, budgeting and analyzing financial performance
  • Identifying opportunities to improve sales, efficiencies and profitability
  • Maintaining exceptional standards for food, beverage, service and overall guest experience
  • Recruiting, training, coaching and developing team members and restaurant leaders
  • Managing performance and building an accountable, positive team culture
  • Creating strong communication and collaboration between FOH and BOH
  • Partnering with Marketing on promotions, events and initiatives that drive traffic and brand awareness
  • Ensuring compliance with FoodSafe, Serving It Right, WorkSafeBC and other applicable requirements
  • Remaining actively involved in service and engaging directly with guests

The position has direct responsibility for forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, inventory, COGS and cost-saving initiatives, alongside sales, marketing and guest satisfaction.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a leader who brings:

  • 5+ years of restaurant management experience, ideally within a high-volume, full-service environment
  • Proven experience managing both people and restaurant financial performance
  • Strong understanding of labour management, inventory, food & beverage cost controls, forecasting and budgeting
  • Experience recruiting, training, coaching and performance-managing restaurant teams
  • A hands-on leadership style and passion for hospitality
  • Strong organization, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with POS and inventory-management systems; Toast and Margine Edge experience are assets
  • Serving It Right and FoodSafe certification
  • Hospitality, Tourism or Business education is an asset

The position requires strong forecasting and budgeting abilities, cost-control knowledge and a proven track record as a hands-on leader.
