The Role: Senior - Communications Infrastructure Specialist (S-CIS)
SPRECOM's Mission:
SPRECOM.Inc provides CRTC based, guidance, CI access and compliance to Canadian Telecom Codes & Standards that gives OPPORTUNITY for free market and future innovation.
What winning looks like in the role:
Winning in this position means operating as a true telecom infrastructure engineer — an experienced, RCDD-caliber professional who loves the craft and consistently delivers CRTC-based guidance, CI access, and full compliance with Canadian Telecom Codes & Standards. You conduct comprehensive audits, precise situation assessments, and thorough evaluations that create a single, trusted source of truth in SPRECOM records, while turning tenant improvements, exit inspections, clean-ups, and controlled-access installations into flawless, fully documented, code-compliant outcomes with zero surprises or downtime. Your reports are clear and professional enough for anyone to understand, your quotes are accurate and fairly priced, your projects stay current and actionable. Most importantly, you proactively close every gap in grounding, firestopping, labeling, and documentation while maintaining a zero-incident safety culture, building long-term client trust and leaving every communication room better than you found it. All of which opens real opportunity for free-market competition and future innovation by ensuring every building’s Communication Infrastructure is accessible, reliable, and ready for whatever comes next.
Key Result Areas
1. Conduct Communication Infrastructure (CI) Audits
What does winning look like?
Every audit is a thorough, professional-grade review that identifies every gap in code compliance, pathway integrity, and asset documentation. Audits are completed on schedule, fully traceable, and drive measurable improvements in the building’s infrastructure quality.
2. Perform CI Situation Assessments
What does winning look like?
Rapid, accurate engineering assessments that cut through complexity clearly define risks and options, and deliver actionable recommendations that prevent future issues and keep projects moving forward without surprises.
3. CI Evaluation
What does winning look like?
100% of a building’s communication infrastructure is accurately mapped, assessed, and documented in SPRECOM records. Every service, pathway, and asset is verified against current Canadian Telecom Codes & Standards, creating a single source of truth that the entire team and clients can trust.
4. Stock Company Vehicle
What does winning look like?
The vehicle is always fully stocked, meticulously organized, and ready for any audit, assessment, or controlled-access install without delay or improvisation.
5. CI Tenant Improvement Inspections
What does winning look like?
Every tenant improvement is inspected with RCDD-level rigor, ensuring full compliance with Telecom Codes & Standards before occupancy. Issues are caught early, clearly communicated to the client, and resolved proactively so the space is handed over code-compliant and future-proof.
6. CI Exit Inspections
What does winning look like?
Complete, forensic-level exit inspections that protect SPRECOM from liability, accurately document abandoned infrastructure, and generate clean, professional reports and quotes that clients trust and act on immediately.
7. Report Writing
What does winning look like?
Reports are clear, concise, and technically precise — written so that anyone (client, property manager, or non-technical stakeholder) instantly understands the current state, risks, and recommended actions. They reflect the quality and professionalism of a senior telecom engineer.
8. CI Clean Ups
What does winning look like?
Every communication room is transformed into a clean, fully compliant, BICSI-standard space: proper Grounding & Bonding, Firestopping, labeling, and removal of abandoned infrastructure — all completed safely, documented thoroughly, and delivered on time and on budget.
9. Plan Approval Acceptance Report (PAAR)
What does winning look like?
All scopes of work are reviewed with engineering precision within 48 hours. Conditions letters are clear, code-compliant, and protective of Canadian Standards. Contractor work is inspected promptly, deficiencies are corrected quickly, and access is coordinated seamlessly — keeping every project on track and fully documented.
10. CI Baseline
What does winning look like?
The building is elevated as close as practically possible to current Canadian Telecom Codes & Standards. Grounding, Firestopping, labeling, and documentation gaps are systematically closed, creating a professional, auditable baseline that stands up to any future inspection or due diligence.
11. Prepare Quotes
What does winning look like?
Quotes are accurate, competitive, and professionally priced — balancing fair profit with maximum value for the client. They are delivered promptly, scoped with engineering detail, and positioned as trusted recommendations rather than just cost estimates.
12. Controlled Access Unit Install
What does winning look like?
Every SPRECOM Controlled Access unit is installed flawlessly on the first attempt, fully tested, photo-documented, and integrated into the building’s infrastructure with zero downtime or surprises — the result of meticulous pre-install preparation and planning.
13. Controlled Access Unit Removal
What does winning look like?
Controlled access units are removed safely and efficiently with zero damage to the building, complete before-and-after documentation, and full coordination so tenants and building operations experience no disruption.
14. Update Projects
What does winning look like?
Projects are always current, transparent, and actionable. Next Actions, notes, photos, and email trails are maintained in real time so any team member or manager can look at a project and immediately understand status, risks, and next steps.
15. Safety Officer Responsibilities
What does winning look like?
