Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Interior Designer / Design Assistant who is passionate about creating warm, inspiring, and functional learning environments. This role is ideal for someone early in their design career who loves both the creative and technical sides of design. Working closely with our

Design Lead and wider team, you’ll assist in developing interior layouts, design standards, procurement documentation, and classroom improvements for new and existing Wee Wild Ones centres across Canada.

You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting all stages of design — from concept development and space planning to finish selections, documentation, and implementation — all while helping to bring our Reggio-inspired vision to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the creation of floor plans, elevations, furniture layouts, and reflected ceiling plans using AutoCAD.
• Support with space planning and classroom layout updates, ensuring all spaces meet licensing and Health requirements while aligning with WWO design standards.
• Help prepare and maintain procurement lists, specifications, and product schedules for each project.
• Source and organize materials, finishes, and furniture samples; help maintain the internal sample library.
• Contribute to concept boards, finish palettes, and presentation packages for internal and external review.
• Update and revise drawings based on markups and feedback from the Design Lead and project team.
• Assist with site visits, measurements, and installations, ensuring that design intent and quality standards are upheld.
• Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and internal team members to gather product information, quotes, and approvals.
• Help maintain design templates and manuals, ensuring consistency across all WWO locations.
• Support day-to-day design administration, including organizing drawings, tracking deliveries, and filing documentation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in Drafting, CAD Technology, Architecture, or related field.
• 0–2 years of professional drafting experience (internships or co-op placements are an asset).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit (or other industry-specific CAD software).
• Basic understanding of engineering or architectural concepts and terminology.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Eagerness to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Assets

• Experience with project documentation and drawing management systems.
• Familiarity with local building codes or industry-specific standards (e.g., mechanical, civil, architectural, etc.).
• Exposure to 3D modelling, rendering, or BIM environments
• Experience preparing presentation packages, material boards, or renderings.
• Familiarity with design documentation, specification tracking, or procurement coordination.
• Interest in sustainable design practices and the “Environment as the Third Teacher” philosophy.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
