Location: Hogg Funeral Services, Minto, NB
Employment Type: Full-time (flexible hours; evenings, weekends, holidays as required)

About Us
Hogg Funeral Services has served the Minto community for years. As of December 2024 the business became part of York Funeral Home (Fredericton, NB). The Managing Funeral Director will operate the Minto location while working collaboratively with York Funeral Home staff to deliver compassionate, professional care to families across both locations.

Role Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and goal-focused Managing Funeral Director and Embalmer to oversee daily operations of Hogg Funeral Services in Minto. The successful candidate will provide families with respectful guidance and support, perform embalming and preparation, manage the facility and staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate closely with York Funeral Home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services: planning, directing, and conducting services per family wishes.
  • Prepare and embalm deceased individuals according to family requests and professional standards.
  • Manage day-to-day funeral home operations: inventory control, repairs and maintenance, facility cleanliness, equipment upkeep, and record keeping.
  • Prepare required legal and regulatory documentation.
  • Manage transportation of the deceased and arrangements with cemeteries and other third-party individuals.
  • Maintain clear communication and operational coordination with York Funeral Home and other connected funeral homes.
  • Supervise, schedule, and support staff; assist with hiring and training as needed.
  • Assist physically during services, including safe lifting and movement of caskets and equipment.
  • Provide families with information about funeral product options (caskets, memorials, burial/cremation).
  • Offer grief support resources and follow-up to families before, during, and after services.

Qualifications

  • Valid Funeral Director and Embalmer licence as required by New Brunswick provincial regulations.
  • Proven experience as a funeral director and embalmer; prior supervisory/management experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated empathy, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks safely.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Sales experience an asset (compassionate, ethical approach to product/service guidance).
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
