Job description

This is NOT a summer job. COBS Bread The Beach (Queen Street East and Woodbine) is looking for an experienced baker to join our team. A minimum of one year of commercial baking experience is required. Required shifts are Saturday-Wednesday 12:00 a.m - 8:00 a.m. A baking education is desirable. As a baker at COBS Bread you will:

• Work as part of a small team to bake products from scratch early each morning following carefully crafted recipes
• Be responsible for reading production schedules and recipes, measuring and mixing ingredients, mold and shaping dough and processing everything through the ovens
• You'll also work along with your team to keep the bakery clean, and provide delightful customer service

What we're looking for:

• One year of previous commercial baking experience. If you don't have it please don't apply.
• A positive attitude, good organizational skills and a strong sense of urgency
• A person who takes pride in a job well done and will look for things to do
• Demonstrated commitment to the bakery's success and to your own development
• You must be able to work the shifts outlined earlier in this posting

Physical Requirements

• Continuous standing/walking for all tasks
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 22 kg (including up and down a flight of stairs)
• Frequent turning and reaching
• Constant use of both hands, with frequent wrist rotation and flexing, occasional forceful gripping
• Occasional pushing, pulling and some forward bending
• Ability to lift at least 2.5 kg to a height of 1.7 metres

Also consider that this bakery is located in The Beach area of Toronto and be practical about your ability to arrive at work on time. Finally please consider the fact that weekend work is a requirement as is work on all public holidays.
