Your opportunity
Dillon’s Natural Resource Management Discipline is seeking a Biologist to fill a new position within our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities

Technical Development
  • Coordinate programs, projects and technical studies for the natural environment component of a variety of projects.
  • Preparation of technical reports and memos related to natural heritage systems on various sites, as required.
  • Completion of field surveys as required and aligned with experience and skill set throughout Southern Ontario to collect field data (surveys may include but are not limited to ecological land classification, aquatic assessments, vegetation (including tree inventories), wildlife surveys (e.g. amphibians, birds) and soil or water quality sampling).
  • Provide oversight to project team members including natural scientists, technologists and technical support staff.
  • Support stakeholder and regulator engagement.
  • Support permitting and approvals acquisition activities at the local, provincial and federal level related to natural heritage (e.g., [former] Endangered Species Act, Species at Risk Act, Conservation Authorities Act, Fisheries Act, Canadian Environmental Assessment Act).
  • Business travel upon request.
Learning and Development

Qualifications

  • A diploma or certificate in a related environmental sciences field. An undergraduate degree in biology, ecology or a related environmental sciences field would be an asset.
  • Professional experience in an environmental consulting, industrial, regulatory, or academic setting.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Experience

  • Experience in executing field programs as part of environmental studies.
  • Experience in executing aquatic field programs considered an asset.
  • Experience in preparation of Environmental Impact Studies and supporting applications under the Planning Act.
  • Experience in preparation of Environmental Reports for EA.
  • Experience in the preparation of other regulatory applications and submissions resulting in the successful acquisition of permits and approvals.
  • Understanding of the application of Best Management Practices to environmental compliance and effectiveness monitoring programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, report writing, critical thinking, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience interacting directly with a variety of clients and team members to execute project delivery.

Compensation

$65,000 - $90,000
Dillon is including the salary range that we in good faith believe may offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
