Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Sheet Metal Brake Operator to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC or manual power brake machines to bend, notch, punch, or straighten metal plates and sheets according to precise blueprints and engineering specifications.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical aptitude, a deep understanding of metal properties, and a commitment to producing high-quality components with minimal waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup & Operation: Configure equipment including selecting proper tooling, dies, and back gauges based on material thickness and required bend angles.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, shop orders, and blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Precision Fabrication: Perform complex bends (including offsets, hems, and radii) on various materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, protractors, micrometers, and squares) to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs to ensure equipment remains in optimal working condition.
  • Material Handling: Safely load and unload heavy metal sheets using forklifts or overhead cranes as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience operating Press Brakes (All Steel, Wysong, Cincinnati, or similar brands preferred).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of bend allowances, K-factors, and material spring-back.
  • Math Proficiency: Ability to perform shop math, including geometry and trigonometry, for calculating dimensions and angles.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Attention to Detail: A "measure twice, cut once" mentality with a focus on tight tolerances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC programming (offline or at the controller).
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
  • Certification from a technical school or completed apprenticeship in sheet metal fabrication.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced manufacturing or job-shop environment.
  • Safety-first culture requiring the use of PPE (Steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
