Job Overview

Join Hungry Zus UBC as a Food Counter Attendant, where your enthusiasm and customer service skills will shine! In this lively role, you’ll be the friendly face behind the counter, preparing and serving delicious food items while ensuring a positive experience for every guest. Your energy and attention to detail will help create a welcoming atmosphere, making each visit memorable. Duties

  • Prepare and assemble food items according to established recipes and quality standards
  • Operate POS systems, including Micros POS, to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Handle cash and credit card payments with precision, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing registers at shift end
  • Provide excellent customer service by taking orders, answering questions, and upselling menu items to enhance guest satisfaction
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, adhering strictly to food safety guidelines and sanitation protocols
  • Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly while maintaining food quality
  • Assist with food handling duties, including stocking supplies, maintaining food freshness, and following proper hygiene practices

Requirements

  • Previous food service or restaurant experience is preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are key!
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and safe food handling practices
  • Experience using POS systems such as Micros POS for efficient transaction processing
  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, positive attitude
  • Ability to perform basic math for cash handling and order calculations
  • Understanding of food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and proper kitchen hygiene
  • Kitchen or food industry experience is a plus; familiarity with serving in a quick-service or casual dining setting is ideal
  • Ability to upsell menu items confidently to boost sales and enhance the guest experience
