Full job description

Plumbing Service Supervisor

Location: Lower Mainland, BC
Position: Full-Time
Industry: Plumbing & Mechanical Service

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Service Supervisor to oversee our service plumbing operations. This position is ideal for an experienced service plumber who has strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to support technicians in the field while ensuring jobs are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

The Plumbing Service Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day service operations, assisting technicians with troubleshooting and job planning, maintaining quality standards, and helping coordinate emergency and after-hours service.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support a team of service plumbers and apprentices.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for plumbing and mechanical service calls.
  • Review job scopes and assist technicians with determining appropriate repair methods.
  • Attend job sites when required to assist with diagnostics, complex repairs, or customer concerns.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, professionally, and in accordance with applicable plumbing and gas codes.
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure company quality standards are maintained.
  • Assist with estimating labour, materials, equipment, and overall job requirements.
  • Review technician job notes, photos, recommendations, and completed work.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and office staff regarding scheduling, job priorities, and technician requirements.
  • Help manage emergency service calls and high-priority jobs.
  • Communicate professionally with property managers, strata representatives, homeowners, restoration contractors, and commercial clients.
  • Assist with ordering and sourcing materials for service jobs when required.
  • Mentor apprentices and less-experienced technicians.
  • Identify opportunities for additional repairs or preventative maintenance while maintaining honest and professional recommendations.
  • Assist management with improving service procedures, technician efficiency, and overall department performance.
  • Participate in the company's weekend on-call rotation, providing supervisory and technical support for emergency service calls.
  • Be available to assist with or attend emergency weekend calls when escalation or additional support is required.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman/Red Seal Plumbing certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of plumbing service experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory, foreman, or leadership experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of residential, commercial, and multi-residential plumbing systems.
  • Experience diagnosing water leaks, drainage issues, domestic hot water systems, pumps, PRVs, recirculation systems, fixtures, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Gas certification and mechanical/heating experience are considered strong assets.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple active service jobs and changing priorities.
  • Comfortable making decisions and providing direction to technicians in the field.
  • Valid BC driver's licence with a clean driving record.
  • Comfortable using mobile applications, email, job-management software, and digital documentation.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who understands that service plumbing requires more than completing repairs. The successful candidate will be able to diagnose problems accurately, communicate clearly, lead technicians, and keep jobs moving efficiently.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of difficult service situations and helping technicians develop solutions rather than simply identifying problems.

This is a hands-on supervisory position. While the primary focus is managing and supporting the service team, there will be situations where you are expected to attend sites, troubleshoot equipment, or assist with complex and emergency repairs.

Schedule & On-Call

This is a full-time position with regular weekday hours.

The Plumbing Service Supervisor will also participate in a rotating weekend on-call schedule. During assigned on-call weekends, the supervisor must be available to provide technical support, assist with emergency coordination, and attend service calls when required.

Additional compensation or on-call arrangements will be discussed during the hiring process.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance, depending on position requirements.
  • Company phone.
  • Benefits package.
  • Opportunities for advancement within the company.
  • Consistent year-round work.
  • Support from an established service and office team.

Pay: $30.39-$55.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Dental care
  • Extended health care

Work Location: In person
