Social Media Content Creator

Location: Oakville, ON (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time / Freelance (Contract)

Position Overview

PolicyAdvisor.com is looking for a creative, camera-confident Social Media Content Creator to become the face of our brand across social media.

This is a hands-on, content-first role for someone who enjoys being both behind and in front of the camera. You'll be responsible for planning, scripting, filming, editing, and publishing engaging video content that simplifies insurance and personal finance topics for Canadians.

Working from our Oakville office, you'll create original content, manage our social media channels, and build an engaged online community through educational, entertaining, and trend-driven content. From idea generation to final publication, you'll own the entire content creation process and help grow PolicyAdvisor's digital presence across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage PolicyAdvisor's social media presence across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
  • Plan, script, film, edit, and publish original short-form and long-form video content featuring yourself as the on-camera presenter.
  • Create engaging educational content that simplifies insurance and personal finance topics for Canadians.
  • Develop creative content ideas aligned with marketing campaigns, seasonal initiatives, and trending topics.
  • Produce high-quality videos, reels, stories, graphics, and other social-first content from concept through publication.
  • Build and maintain a strategic content calendar aligned with business and marketing objectives.
  • Monitor social media trends, platform updates, and viral content opportunities to keep our brand relevant and engaging.
  • Manage day-to-day publishing, scheduling, community engagement, and audience interactions across all social channels.
  • Respond to comments, direct messages, and community inquiries in a timely, professional, and brand-appropriate manner.
  • Collaborate with marketing, insurance advisors, and leadership to identify content opportunities and communicate complex topics in a simple, relatable way.
  • Analyze social media performance, prepare monthly reports, and recommend strategies to improve engagement, reach, audience growth, and lead generation.
  • Support employee advocacy by encouraging and guiding team members in creating and sharing branded content.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience creating content and managing corporate social media accounts.
  • Comfortable and confident appearing on camera as the public face of a brand.
  • Proven ability to independently plan, film, edit, and publish engaging video content.
  • Strong storytelling, copywriting, and visual communication skills.
  • Proficiency with video editing and design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, CapCut, Canva, or similar software.
  • Experience using social media management and scheduling platforms such as Hootsuite, AgoraPulse, Buffer, or Meta Business Suite.
  • Strong understanding of social media algorithms, audience engagement, and content optimization.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Photography and videography experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience creating content within insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries is an asset, but not required.

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a content creator first and social media manager second- someone who is passionate about creating compelling video content and isn't afraid to be in front of the camera.

You'll independently research trending topics, brainstorm creative ideas, write scripts, film yourself explaining insurance concepts, edit engaging videos, and publish content across our social media channels. You'll also manage our online community and continuously look for ways to increase brand awareness, audience engagement, and lead generation.

If you enjoy educating audiences through authentic, engaging content and want to build the social presence of one of Canada's fastest growing Insurtech companies, we'd love to hear from you.
