Full job description

The Investigators Group Inc. is a leading private investigation and security services company with a long-standing reputation for excellence. We are currently seeking a skilled Loss Prevention Guard to work closely with our retail clients, who will also have a lot of interaction with the police. This role is ideal for someone who is starting their law enforcement career or an experienced professional looking for a challenging new opportunity.

Position Summary

As a Plain Clothes loss prevention officer, you will play a critical role in detecting and apprehending shoplifters, minimizing the financial loss of retail items related to theft, and writing apprehension and prevention reports. You will also have frequent interactions with local law enforcement authorities, working collaboratively to ensure the safety and security of our client's retail locations. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates with education in police foundations and or private security.

Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you must possess strong observational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Additionally, you must have excellent communication skills and be able to work closely with local law enforcement officials. We will provide you with comprehensive training to help you succeed in this role and achieve your career goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducting surveillance to detect and apprehend shoplifters
  • Minimize the financial loss of retail items related to theft
  • Write apprehension and prevention reports
  • Follow policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Valid Ontario Security License
  • Basic understanding of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act and Powers of Arrest
  • Ability to communicate with first responders, staff and management
  • Available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work independently and possess initiative and integrity
  • English (written and verbal)
  • Ability to stand and walk for a full shift
