DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Solutions Architect to help design and deliver advanced cloud computing solutions to Canadian Federal Government customers. You will be a member of a dynamic team, bringing the latest in disruptive, cutting-edge cloud computing technology to solve difficult and impactful challenges within this vertical. You will be a key member of the business development and sales team and part of the larger AWS Worldwide Public Sector team.

As a Senior Solutions Architect, you will partner with customers, sales, and other AWS technical teams to craft highly flexible and resilient architectures that address customer mission challenges. As a trusted customer advocate, you will help organizations understand best practices around advanced cloud solutions. You will seek out opportunities to broaden the use of AWS across customer organizations.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Canadian Government cloud computing landscape, application modernization initiatives, and security requirements. They also have customer-facing skills that will allow them to represent AWS within a customer's environment, present cloud computing concepts and architectures to diverse audiences, and drive discussions with technical and non-technical customer personnel at all levels of an organization. They should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, mission, product, complex architectures, and technical challenges from a customer perspective and lead a team of solution architects and other technical resources in this context.

3. Advocating on behalf of customers for new features and capabilities

A day in the life
Solutions architects are part of the sales organization. They often meet with customers to understand their business and technical challenges, crafting solutions that leverage AWS products and services. To ensure they can bring the best solutions forward a portion of their time is dedicated to learning and experimentation with the latest technologies.

About the team
Solutions Architects are regarded as technical “thought leaders” who evangelize emerging technologies not only on a conceptual level, but also on a practical. Our SA’s played a critical role in the widespread adoption and advancement of cloud computing capabilities within the public sector. They think outside of the box to provide solutions that are cost-effective, time-saving, and secure. As an SA, you’ll solve problems at both the mission and technical levels by working backwards from customer requirements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
  • 5+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
  • Experience with presentations and speaking with executives, IT, management, and developers
  • Experience in a technical role within a sales organization

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D insurance), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and other resources to improve health and well-being.
