Role Overview:

The Health & Safety (H&S) Coordinator is responsible for minimizing the risk of job-related accidents, monitor operations to eliminate hazardous activities, and develop policies to promote occupational health and safety (OSH) awareness. The associate’s work will be focused on prevention. You will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers requiring you to be diligent and analytical

The goal is to support the creation of a healthy and safe workplace.

Day Shift - 8am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

Duties:

  • Ensures plant safety rules are effectively implemented, housekeeping standards are followed and required personal protective equipment is used.
  • Responsible for Daily, Monthly and Annual Inspections to ensure workplace compliance.
  • Investigate workplace incidents or accidents, analyzing root causes, and recommending corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure the availability of first aid and emergency equipment.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety procedures, emergency response, and the proper use of equipment.
  • Facilitate communication about potential hazards, safe work practices, and procedures among employees.
  • Assess the need for and ensure the proper use of PPE, providing guidance on selection and maintenance.
  • Address environmental factors affecting health, such as air quality, noise levels, and ergonomic considerations.
  • Research, plan, organize and conduct training programs to employees, with regard to WHMIS, Orientation, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid, industry specific related issues, etc.
  • Effectively communicate safety-related information to all levels of the organization, promoting awareness and understanding.
  • Maintain MSDS documentation for all sites.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to safety, including incident reports, training documentation, and safety plans.
  • Responsible for maintaining the documentation and paperwork of any H&S Related activities.
  • Comply with all the guidelines prescribed by OHSA.
  • Serve as a Fire Safety Team Member.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as safety specialist or similar.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices.
  • Experience in reporting and developing policies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create and manage documents, spreadsheets, email communications, and presentations effectively.
  • Diligent with an analytical mind.
  • BSc/Ba in health and safety or relevant field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $55,000.00 per year
