Full job description

Reporting to the director of Quality Improvement, as a member of the Quality Improvement team, you will be responsible for maintaining, and teaching our electronic health record, Care Planning, and Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI)/Minimum Data Set (MDS) to the frontline staff. You will maintain RAI/MDS data submissions to health regions as required. You are a very adaptable and flexible individual with high energy who enjoys multitasking. You enjoy working as a member of a team, as well as independently, and are highly motivated. Some of your other duties will include change management, policy review, site quality improvement audits, application testing, incident review, and you will be a representative or presenter with various Quality Improvement committees and teams.

Educational and other Qualifications

  • RN or LPN designation
  • Current registration with the provincial regulatory college
  • Previous RAI-MDS training and certification with Canadian Institute of Healthcare Information (CIHI) for assessments and as an CIHI RAI-MDS educator.
  • Certification of competency in RAI-MDS assessments (RELIAS, AIS)

Work Experience

  • Three to five (3-5) years clinical experience in continuing/complex/community care
  • Experience in adult education or team leadership/building
  • Experience as RAI Coordinator in a long-term care environment or experience using RAI- MDS assessment tools and processes
  • Experience with adult education strategies and facilitation is a benefit
  • Leadership experience

  • Extensive knowledge of RAI- MDS coding and auditing processes
  • Knowledge of CIHI’s processes
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills to resolve issues independently and/or make recommendations that are supported by evidence consistent with legislation/policies,

  • Ability to show initiative and to motivate others
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
