Ayrton Energy's vision is to provide affordable, off-grid energy security via clean, safe and scalable hydrogen storage technologies. Ayrton is looking for a chemistry or chemical engineering graduate with experience in a chemical laboratory to join our team in a full time role. As part of a fast-growing startup, the scientist in this role can anticipate a large variety of changing role responsibilities as the team grows.

  • You enjoy working in cross-functional teams and feel comfortable sharing your ideas

Your Responsibilities:

  • Work with Senior Scientists to prepare materials for electrochemical testing; including blending and coatings of catalysts
  • Work with Senior Scientists to prepare experimental equipment, and run experiments; including electrochemical test stations
  • Preparation of chemical samples for characterization and testing
  • Work with Senior Scientists to collect and analyze data
  • Support with instrument maintenance, inventory management, waste disposal and other laboratory activities as needed

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in chemistry, physics or engineering with chemical lab experience (may be from classes)
  • Passionate about innovation, self-motivated and keen to learn
  • Organized and efficiently able to manage time for laboratory protocols.
  • Experience in a research and development laboratory environment is beneficial
  • Experience with electrochemical systems (fuel cells, electrolysers, etc) is beneficial
  • Knowledge of Python for data analysis is beneficial
