Marketing Lead (AI-Native)
Job details
Full job description
Rise to the challenge
Rise People is a Canadian technology company building HR, payroll, and group benefits software for small and midsize businesses across the country. Our platform connects the work of hiring, paying, managing, and supporting employees, helping employers spend less time on administration and more time building the businesses they believe in.
We combine deep Canadian payroll and benefits expertise with practical AI capabilities that help teams find answers, understand their data, and get work done. Headquartered in Vancouver, we’re proudly building a modern Canadian alternative to global incumbents, giving small teams the technology and support to achieve more.
About the role
Small businesses have big ambitions and a lot of work standing in the way. Payroll, benefits, and employee records eat up time they'd rather spend on customers and growth. Rise is a proudly Canadian company helping them get that time back.
We're taking on global incumbents with an integrated HR, payroll, and benefits platform, and we're building AI into how the work gets done. Customers can already ask for reports in plain language, book time off, and get answers to benefits questions. We want to give small teams the capabilities to accomplish far more.
As our Marketing Lead , you'll help more Canadian businesses see what's possible with Rise. In your first year, you'll focus on building broad awareness of Rise across the Canadian market and growing our reach through owned and earned channels.
You'll work directly with our Co-CEO, supported by teammates and contractors across design, content, and distribution. You'll also build the AI agents, skills, and automations that let a small marketing team do the work of a much larger one, the same approach we take with our customers.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes ownership, acts without waiting to be asked, and works hard with follow-through. You'll move quickly, build on the foundations already in place, and own Rise's marketing outcomes, with a clear path to a seat on the senior leadership team.
The day-to-day
-
Develop marketing stories worth telling. Get close to our customers and product, find the stories that matter, and figure out how to bring them to market.
-
Take campaigns from idea through execution. Write the copy, build the pages and emails, work with design, and carry the work through to launch.
-
Own distribution. Decide how each campaign will reach people. Put your experience in paid ads or social media to work, and build on the channels that produce a meaningful response.
-
Lead and coordinate work with contractors and in-house specialists across digital advertising, content writing, and graphic design, along with other vendors. Set clear briefs, give useful feedback, and keep quality and timelines on track.
-
Partner with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to understand customer needs, shape campaigns and launches, and create materials that help people understand, buy, and get more value from Rise.
-
Build your own ways of working with AI. Create agents, skills, and automations for recurring work, refine them as you learn, and share the useful ones with the team. Handle most of this independently, and bring in our Applied AI team for the more complex projects.
-
Know what worked. Set up tracking, follow the response through to Sales-qualified leads, and use the results to decide what to improve or do next.
About you
-
You likely have 3–7 years of hands-on marketing experience, or equivalent depth demonstrated through your work. You've personally built and shipped campaigns, written copy, and owned distribution and measurement.
-
You're a strong writer with good marketing judgment. You can show us work you personally made and explain the choices behind it: the audience, the angle, the words, and how you got it in front of people. You can also show us what you'd improve today.
-
You use AI tools like Claude Cowork/Code or ChatGPT Codex daily. You’ve already built multiple agents, skills, or scheduled automations that do useful work. You can walk us through one, including what you built, what still needs your judgment, and how you know it's working.
-
You're comfortable creating landing pages, setting up email campaigns, and using analytics. When a tool is unfamiliar or something breaks, you can investigate and work your way through it.
-
You have practical experience distributing marketing through paid ads or social media. You think about how people will discover the work while you're making it.
-
You notice good marketing and want to understand why it works. You study campaigns, teach yourself unfamiliar tools, and bring what you learn into your own work.
-
You can take a loosely defined opportunity and turn it into finished work. You know when to figure something out yourself and when a conversation or specialist will get you further.
-
Bonus: You've developed a repeatable way to generate qualified inquiries or pipeline and can show how your work contributed.
Your work and how you approach it matter more than a particular degree, job title, or number of years. Relevant experience outside B2B SaaS is welcome.
What Rise offers
-
Rise is all about creating a positive company culture, both for our clients and our employees. We believe that happiness isn't the cause of employee engagement; it's the result.
-
The base salary for this position is CAD $100,000–$130,000, depending on experience, plus stock options.
-
We offer a remote work environment. On occasion, we may meet as a team or one-on-one in person.
-
Rise believes that time off is just as important as time spent. We offer 3 weeks of paid vacation, flexible personal wellness days, as well as one day off for your birthday and your work anniversary.
-
We support your growth with a personal $1,000 learning and development budget to take courses, attend conferences, webinars, you name it!
-
We offer no-wait benefits. This means that starting your first day, you have access to our comprehensive benefits package which includes dental, eye care, and $2,000 in counselling coverage, among many other great health benefits.
At Rise, we care more about where you're headed, not where you've been. We encourage people of all ages, backgrounds, identities, and orientations to apply.
