Full job description

Crazy Carrot | Downtown Toronto | On-Site

Who We Are

Crazy Carrot exists to make affordable wellbeing a reality for everyone — one meal, one neighbourhood at a time. We believe good food should be fresh, fast, and flavourful: real ingredients, prepared with care, at a price that feels right. That philosophy shows up in our food every day:

  • Freshness First — every ingredient is real, crisp, and prepared from scratch
  • Integrity in Every Bite — we do what's right for our customers, our communities, and our planet
  • Speed with Soul — fast food doesn't have to be mindless; we bring real food, real fast, without compromise
  • Sustainability — eco-friendly packaging and a commitment to reducing waste
  • Affordability with Purpose — fresh food built to nourish, not overcharge

The Role

At Crazy Carrot, you're the first smile our guests see and the reason their meal is fresh, fast, and made with real care. As a Team Member, you'll be part of the opening crew at our brand-new downtown Toronto location — preparing real food from scratch, moving quickly between the kitchen and the counter during the rush, and helping deliver a great guest experience from day one. If you thrive in a fast-paced kitchen, take pride in following processes precisely, and enjoy multitasking between back-of-house and front-of-house work, this is your seat at the table.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Greet every guest with warmth and energy, and confidently answer questions about our menu and ingredients
  • Prepare fresh food to order — salads, wraps, bowls, and smoothies — following recipes, portioning, and food safety standards
  • Move fluidly between kitchen prep and front-counter service, multitasking across back-of-house (BOH) and front-of-house (FOH) duties to keep pace during busy periods
  • Operate the front counter and register accurately, keeping lines moving during peak rush without cutting corners on quality
  • Receive, organize, and store inventory, and safely move and lift food, beverage products, and supplies as required
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls when needed
  • Follow all health and safety standards and procedures, especially those related to food handling, equipment use, and customer safety
  • Follow established cleaning and sanitation protocols across all work, storage, and service areas, including counters, equipment, dining areas, and washrooms
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, offering support and assistance to fellow team members

Requirements & Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume QSR / fast-casual environment
  • Basic kitchen / back-of-house skills, or a willingness to learn food preparation, safe handling, and storage
  • Flexible and adaptable — willing to move between different tasks and stations as needed
  • Able to stand, bend, twist, and lift for extended periods during a full shift, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Clear communicator — able to follow instructions, read short written procedures, and speak comfortably with guests and teammates
  • Reliable and punctual, available to work on-site at our downtown Toronto location
  • Available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Comfortable handling cash and POS transactions accurately

Nice-to-Haves

  • Previous restaurant, retail, or other customer-facing experience
  • Food handler certification (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Additional languages, an asset for serving our diverse downtown community

Culture & Benefits

Our Culture

No matter your role or title, everyone at Crazy Carrot works from the same set of core values. This is what guides how we hire, train, and work together, every shift:

  • Care — we treat each other, our guests, and our community with kindness and respect
  • Character — we act with honesty, integrity, and accountability in everything we do
  • Contribution — we take pride in our work and support one another's success
  • Courage — we stay open to feedback, adapt to change, and step forward to solve challenges
  • Commitment — we show up, follow through, and hold ourselves to consistent standards

What You'll Get

  • Structured, hands-on training from day one
  • Be part of the opening team at a brand-new downtown Toronto location
  • 50% off food and beverages, 20% off merchandise and retail items
  • Paid vacation

Pay: $18.00 – $18.50 per hour

Hours: 15+ hours/week

Work Arrangement: On-site, downtown Toronto at 555 Richmond Street West

Anticipated Start Date: Early to mid-October 2026 (dependent on our store's construction timeline)
