Apprenticeship

Key Largo Electric is an electrical firm providing quality electrical support to BC Hydro.

We are looking for a 3-4th year Electrical Apprentice and as well a Journeyman Electrician to join its team.

This Successful Individual should be a motivated self-starter with a strong drive to become a well-rounded Journeyman Electrician with the highest regard for safety and ethics.

The Electrical Apprentice duties include but are not limited to:

· Reporting to the Crew Lead (s) for duties

· Working in Coordination with other Apprentices, Electricians, Trades, and the general public.

· Pulling Wire

· Climbing Ladders

· Learning about BC Hydro Standards and Practices

· Assisting Journeyman to Carry out installation and demolition of services

· Critical thinking

A successful candidate will possess the following skills:

· 3rd-year electrical apprenticeship or better

· Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code

· Computer skills, Microsoft Excel

· Ability to take direction well

· Ability to work efficiently on own and with others as a team member.

· BC Driver’s License and current Driver’s Abstract

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performing routine service installation and demolition
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

  • Extensive knowledge of Electrical Safety Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and all other applicable legislation required.
  • A valid BC full drivers license – Class 5
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 80-100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and capable of climbing 20 ft. ladders
  • Time Management
  • Organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Computer knowledge - Microsoft Excel

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Red Seal Journeyman license
  • Minimum of 3 years of trade experience

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current Driver’s Abstract
  • Resume outlining the above requirements with a cover letter
  • Three References – from previous employers.
