Full job description

Director of Sales & Business DevelopmentProgressive Industrial Fluids Ltd.

London, Ontario

Build Something Exceptional

Progressive Industrial Fluids is an 18-year-old Canadian manufacturer specializing in industrial lubricants, metalworking fluids, stamping lubricants, corrosion preventatives, process cleaners, and factory lubrication solutions.

Unlike many competitors, we formulate, manufacture, test, package, and support our products entirely in-house. Our technical capabilities, laboratory resources, manufacturing infrastructure, and commitment to innovation have positioned us as a growing force within the industrial lubricant sector.

We are seeking a highly accomplished sales leader to help us build the next chapter of our company.

This is not a maintenance role.

This is an opportunity to design, build, and scale a provincial sales organization with a clear path toward executive leadership.

The Opportunity

Today, Progressive remains heavily founder-led from a sales perspective. We are now preparing to build a structured sales organization across Ontario consisting of eight dedicated territories supported by technical resources, laboratory services, manufacturing expertise, and customer success initiatives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy required to build this organization from the ground up.

This role is ideal for someone who has successfully:

  • Built industrial sales teams
  • Opened and developed new territories
  • Created sales systems and accountability structures
  • Recruited and developed technical sales professionals
  • Led growth within manufacturing, industrial distribution, lubricants, chemicals, metalworking, MRO, tooling, or industrial services

Key ResponsibilitiesSales Leadership

  • Develop and execute Progressive's Ontario growth strategy
  • Design and launch eight distinct sales territories
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage a high-performing sales organization
  • Establish sales processes, KPIs, forecasting, and territory management systems
  • Create a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement

Business Development

  • Drive new customer acquisition throughout Ontario manufacturing markets
  • Expand relationships within automotive, metal stamping, machining, fabrication, extrusion, and industrial manufacturing sectors
  • Develop strategic growth plans for major accounts
  • Identify opportunities for expansion into adjacent industrial markets

Technical Solution Selling

  • Lead a consultative sales approach focused on productivity improvements rather than commodity pricing
  • Work closely with customers to reduce lubricant consumption, improve tool life, enhance process reliability, and lower overall operating costs
  • Collaborate with Progressive's laboratory and technical teams to develop customized solutions

Strategic Growth

  • Participate in long-term planning and market expansion initiatives
  • Help position the company for expansion into the U.S. Midwest and Southern manufacturing regions
  • Assist in developing future sales leadership and succession planning

What We're Looking ForRequired Experience

  • Proven experience building and managing industrial sales teams
  • Demonstrated success launching and developing multiple territories
  • Strong record of revenue growth and market expansion
  • Experience recruiting, coaching, and developing sales professionals
  • Strategic planning and execution capabilities

Preferred Background

  • Industrial lubricants
  • Metalworking fluids
  • Industrial chemicals
  • Manufacturing services
  • MRO products
  • Tooling and machining solutions
  • Industrial distribution
  • Technical industrial products

Education

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Engineering background
  • Technical diploma
  • Manufacturing operations experience
  • Industrial process improvement experience

Leadership Profile

The ideal candidate is:

  • Entrepreneurial
  • Highly accountable
  • Data-driven
  • Comfortable building from scratch
  • Equally capable in the boardroom and on the plant floor
  • Passionate about manufacturing
  • Focused on long-term value creation rather than short-term transactions

This individual must understand that our products are not commodities. Our success comes from helping customers improve productivity, reduce costs, increase reliability, and achieve measurable operational improvements.

Compensation

Progressive is prepared to offer an industry-leading compensation package for the right individual, including:

  • Competitive base salary
  • Performance-based bonus program
  • Vehicle allowance
  • Benefits package
  • Long-term incentive opportunities
  • Executive leadership development

For the right candidate, this role offers a clear path toward:

Vice President of Sales

and participation in helping build one of Canada's leading independent industrial lubricant manufacturers.

Our Vision

Over the next five years, Progressive plans to significantly expand its market presence throughout Ontario while strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and technical service offerings.

Over the next ten years, we intend to establish a meaningful presence throughout the U.S. Midwest and Southern manufacturing corridors, serving automotive, metalworking, and industrial manufacturing customers across North America.

We are looking for a leader who wants to help build that future.

If you have successfully built sales organizations, developed industrial markets, and are looking for an opportunity to create something substantial, we would like to speak with you.
