This role involves designing engaging lesson plans, promoting social and emotional development, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. Bilingual candidates, particularly those fluent in English and French, are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote learning through play and exploration.
  • Create a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and respect among students.
  • Assess children's progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs, including those with disabilities or special educational requirements.
  • Foster strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's development.
  • Ensure classroom safety by adhering to health and safety regulations while providing supervision during activities.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in early childhood education.

What We’re Looking For

  • Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification: Level 1, 2, or 3 (or in progress). A genuine love for working with children and supporting their unique growth and potential. Knowledge of child development, play-based learning, and positive guidance strategies. Strong communication skills with both children and adults. Team spirit—someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to support colleagues. Reliability, flexibility, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom. Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (required before employment).

What You’ll Do

  • Create engaging learning environments by setting up play-based activities, provocations, and routines that spark curiosity and foster development in all area, social, emotional, cultural, creative, physical, and intellectual development.

Support children’s growth and well-being by observing their interests and needs, guiding them through challenges, and celebrating their successes.

  • Build strong connections with families, sharing children’s learning stories, listening to their concerns, and working together as partners in each child’s journey. Collaborate with your team to plan curriculum, share new ideas, and contribute to a positive, supportive workplace culture.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment by following licensing regulations, daily safety checks, and health protocols that protect children and staff.
  • Model positive interactions that encourage respect, kindness, and inclusion—helping children develop strong peer and community relationships.

Contribute to professional growth by participating in training, team meetings, and reflective practices that strengthen your skills as an educator.
